十三年前，天下第一画师陶疆带着他的地狱图失踪，十三年后，红泥镇上接连发生模仿地狱图的杀人事件。画师程仁与仵作白仟机在查案的过程中频频受阻，恩师桑榆也被残忍杀害。程仁一行人为找出真凶身陷险境，在大理寺丞许暮的帮助下逐渐揭开真相：这一系列案件就是为揭露十三年前杀害桑榆一家人的惨痛悬案，而凶手也呼之欲出。
